Heartland Christian
Camp
Standards of
Conduct
These must be read, signed, and sent in from each participant
The continuing success of the Heartland Christian Camps is
due, in part, to the Heartland Christian Camp staff expecting and demonstrating the highest
standards of safe and moral behavior from all participants. These not only
represent our Biblical beliefs, but also legal and insurance based requirements. For the
benefit of those who may be unaware of our standards and expectations, the following represents a
general list, which covers our most obvious concerns.
-
Every camper under the age of 20 will be considered a minor and will need a
parent/guardian or sponsor from their church on the campgrounds for
accountability and supervision.
-
Minor-aged campers are expected to remain on the property of the Heartland
Christian Camp, unless instructed by camp staff or by participant’s parents,
guardian or leader responsible. They are expected to turn in the keys to their
vehicle to the Youth Director.
-
Minor-aged campers are expected to participate in the camp activities,
unless excused by staff members or by the participant’s parent/guardian,
sponsor or
responsible leader.
-
The altars are always available for personal and private use at any time of
day or night. We expect that the sacred and spiritual encounters of others
are to be respected and not interrupted. Please do not "mob" around someone
who is seeking or in conversation with God.
-
Participants are expected to respect the properties of others. NO
vandalism, theft, hiding of others’ possessions, or destruction of others’
property is acceptable.
-
Respect for the camp property is expected. Campers will not
intentionally
destroy, steal or damage camp property, buildings, furnishings, or sports equipment. (Musical
and sound equipment is off limits without permission of worship leaders or
musicians).
-
Fighting,
verbally or physically, is not acceptable.
-
If a participant brings valuables, it will be at their own risk, as the
Heartland Christian Camp is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
-
Use of alcohol and illegal drugs are not permitted.
-
Tobacco usage for adults
is not allowed in any building nor areas presenting a fire hazard. For those
underage, tobacco products are not permitted.
-
Fireworks and other explosives are not permitted. Only registered firearms
to be used in the Sportmen's activities are allowed. Gun and bow
owners are liable for the security and accessibility of all their guns,
ammunition, and bows and arrows.
-
Gambling
of any form is prohibited.
-
For teens, radios, tape players and TV’s are not allowed at this event. Portable music players with earphones which will be allowed only at
designated times and places.
-
Campers will wear adequate, modest clothing at all times.
-
Appropriate swimwear or use of T-shirts will be
expected at pool site.
-
All campers will respect the privacy of others. Areas, buildings, or
activities that are specified for use by just females or males must be
-
Verbal
or physical harassment of others is not acceptable.
-
Minors without parent/guardian in attendance will keep their
sponsors and leaders informed of any problems or needs at all times.
-
A
camper must have permission to use the phone at the Heartland
Christian Camp.
NOTE:
The event leaders will meet with the Camp Director and those failing to
conform to the standards set out above to decide on disciplinary action or
dismissal from campgrounds. It is never our desire to dismiss campers from
an environment where God can speak clearly and change our weaknesses and
imperfections. In all cases we first extend grace and mercy, but we are
responsible to see that the camp objectives are not defeated by the conduct
or conversation of one or a few individuals.
If the participant is a minor
without parent/guardian or sponsor on grounds, camp staff will contact parent/guardian
and discuss the infraction and they will be expected to pick up their child
from the event, if necessary. There are no refunds in these instances.
